Small Batch Soap

Once you get hooked making cold-processed soap you won’t want to stop. The possibilities of oils, scents and colors are endless. The down side is that the ingredients can add up and the wait time is not for the impatient. Both of these things have gotten in my way along with the amount of soap that most batches make. I was lucky enough to have my great soap instructor, Marilyn Schendel, work up a recipe to make a small batch of soap for me. I am sharing this below for you. I am assuming that you already make soap, know the safety procedures involved in making this type of soap and have a mold for a two pound batch.
Basic Small Cold-Process Soap Recipe
make about 2 lbs.
16 ounces olive oil
8 ounces coconut oil
8 ounces palm oil
4.44 ounces sodium hydroxide
10.25 ounces distilled water
1 1/2 ounces essential oil (you can use more for a stronger scent-your call)I love this recipe as I can experiment with different colors and scents and don’t have a soap overload. For those of you who want a batch for yourself or gifts, this recipe is the way to go.
