I am not a competitive person. Just writing that makes my heart jump. But I looked into Amy Warden’s Great Cakes Soapworks Challenge with curiosity.
For the price of a large cup of coffee you can sign up for a challenge. It sounds intimidating as the current challenge, Ebru, is open to national and international soap makers (heart racing again). I have to tell you at this point that the only thing I have ever won in my life was 1st place in a radio contest to see an exclusive showing of a movie I did NOT want to see. What I hoped to win was SECOND place, which was a really cool teeshirt. So, thinking about it, I have never won anything and this is not why I signed up for the challenge. I signed up because I need something new to try.
What you get for that small price is pretty amazing. Even if you don’t follow it all the way to the contest entry. You will get a video how to of a soap design technique, a web page with easy to follow guides, recipes and hands on advice if you need it (thanks Amy for unlocking my account-sheesh) and a chance to see what other people did with the challenge (free ideas people!).
As for me, below is what I came up with for Ebru. It was great fun and I learned a lot. Check into the next challenge!
